Higher Education Community Service
For the fourth straight year, CSU Stanislaus was named to the Presidents Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in February 2010 by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The University was one of seven CSU campuses named to the national Honor Roll out of a field of more than 500 colleges and universities that submitted applications.

CSU Stanislaus Budget Central

Budget Central has been created to provide the latest news about the CSU Stanislaus budget in light of the state’s severe cuts to the California State University system. The University has been required to make $13.5 million in cuts to its 2009-10 budget, including a $2.5 million reduction of part-time faculty and staff, and has reduced full-time equivalent enrolment to 6,800.  Click on the link above to learn more

Twelve CSU Stanislaus students were selected as McNair Scholars in Fall 2008 through a partnership program coordinated by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences with UC Merced that helps prepare recipients to pursue doctoral degrees.

Selected as the first group of McNair scholars at CSU Stanislaus were: 

  • Hilary Johnston, a Biological Sciences major from Diamond Springs;
  • Rachel Garcia, a Communication Studies major from Los Banos;
  • Jorge Camarena, a History major from Modesto; 
  • Ashley Amador, a Psychology major; and Dallan Guzinski, a Political Science major; both from Patterson;  
  • Michael Darmousseh, a Mathematics major; Issac Farhadian, a History major; Lauren Hall, a History major; Mark Lazari, a
Chemistry major; Teresa Madruga, a Psychology major; and Rachel Patrick-now Chamousis, a Chemistry major; all from Turlock;
  • Anne Engert, an English major from Oakdale.


Dr. Carolyn J. Stefanco, Founding Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, said the prestigious scholarship grant program dedicated to helping students succeed in Ph.D. programs gives participants from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds a variety of networking opportunities and the chance to participate in a number of academically-oriented conferences and research activities all over the world.  Each student receives a $2,800 research stipend.
