Provost James Strong recently announced interim appointments for the Colleges of Education and Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Juan M. Flores has been appointed Interim Dean for the College of Education and Kathy Shipley was named as Interim Associate Dean. Dr. Flores has been a faculty member at CSU Stanislaus for 22 years and served as Chair for the Department of Teacher Education for nine years.
Shipley has served the University ably since 1980 when she started as a lecturer in Communication Studies. She currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Liberal Studies in the College of Education. For the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Strong named Philosophy Professor and Director of the University’s Honors Program, James Tuedio, as Interim Dean and Communication Studies Professor Marjorie Jaasma as Interim Associate Dean. Tuedio earned his Ph.D. and MA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has taught at CSU Stanislaus since 1983. Jaasma earned her MA from CSU Stanislaus and her Ed.D from the University of the Pacific. She first came to CSU Stanislaus in 1988 and has held a variety of faculty and administrative positions. The four will serve in their interim roles until new permanent deans are selected. |
