Higher Education Community Service
For the fourth straight year, CSU Stanislaus was named to the Presidents Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in February 2010 by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The University was one of seven CSU campuses named to the national Honor Roll out of a field of more than 500 colleges and universities that submitted applications.

CSU Stanislaus Budget Central

Budget Central has been created to provide the latest news about the CSU Stanislaus budget in light of the state’s severe cuts to the California State University system. The University has been required to make $13.5 million in cuts to its 2009-10 budget, including a $2.5 million reduction of part-time faculty and staff, and has reduced full-time equivalent enrolment to 6,800.  Click on the link above to learn more

Provost James Strong recently announced interim appointments for the Colleges of Education and Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Juan M. Flores has been appointed Interim Dean for the College of Education and Kathy Shipley was named as Interim Associate Dean. Dr. Flores has been a faculty member at CSU Stanislaus for 22 years and served as Chair for the Department of Teacher Education for nine years. Shipley has served the University ably since 1980 when she started as a lecturer in Communication Studies. She currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Liberal Studies in the College of Education.
 
For the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Strong named Philosophy Professor and Director of the University’s Honors Program, James Tuedio, as Interim Dean and Communication Studies Professor Marjorie Jaasma as Interim Associate Dean.  Tuedio earned his Ph.D. and MA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  He has taught at CSU Stanislaus since 1983. Jaasma earned her MA from CSU Stanislaus and her Ed.D from the University of the Pacific. She first came to CSU Stanislaus in 1988 and has held a variety of faculty and administrative positions.
 
The four will serve in their interim roles until new permanent deans are selected.
