CSU Stanislaus Budget Central

Budget Central has been created to provide the latest news about the CSU Stanislaus budget in light of the state’s severe cuts to the California State University system. The University has been required to make $13.5 million in cuts to its 2009-10 budget, including a $2.5 million reduction of part-time faculty and staff, and has reduced full-time equivalent enrolment to 6,800.  Click on the link above to learn more

I'm a simple man (great!...now I'm humming the Lynyrd Skynyrd song in my head as I type this). Anyways, I guess that means I shouldn't beat around the bush. Here's the abridged version about me and what to expect out of this blog as one of many interactive aspects of myStanMag.org.
  ::

About me:

I'm a former print journalist who's found solace as a writer for my alma mater. See, I graduated from CSU Stanislaus in 2005 (Communication Studies), and I firmly believe this university is one of the best in the nation, let alone the CSU system. Heck, The Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report think so, too.

I believe that college students should be more accountable for their education than the faculty that teach them or administrators that provide support and services. (though I didn't always feel the same as a student.) And once a student becomes self-aware of their own accountability, they've learned the most important college lesson of all: Your degree on the wall is important, not because of the institution's name that's embossed on it, but because of the work that you performed to attain it.

About this blog:

After collecting interviews and compiling information while covering my assignments for STAN Magazine, I've cobbled tons of good stuff that simply did not make it's way into the print edition. No worries, that's where STANMag Online and The Herbal Remedy — and my reporter's notebook — comes into play. I'll not only upload interesting blog entries that complement my STAN Magazine stories, but I'll do what I can to keep you informed regarding future issues of STAN, as it pertains to interesting feature stories.

So, please, read on, and enjoy.
