Budget Central has been created to provide the latest news about the CSU Stanislaus budget in light of the state’s severe cuts to the California State University system. CSU Stanislaus students, faculty, and staff received an e-mail from the campus Postmaster last week calling for graduating seniors who are interested in serving as Commencement Speakers to submit an application and a copy of their speech — click here for the most up-to-date information regarding this year's Commencement. But the e-mail got me thinking — which, those who know me personally, would say is a bad thing. I've attended my own graduation ceremonies at junior high, high school, Modesto Junior College, and of course, a few here at CSU Stanislaus — which includes a hot 2005 day when I walked across the stage at the University Amphitheater. And, still, each time I hear a commencement address from students or keynote speakers, I always ponder some of my personal favorite speeches, whether from films, historical context, or politics. Though I like many others, my personal favorite is Jimmy Carter's "Crisis of Confidence" speech (1979). But enough about me. Check out the videos below for a daily dose of inspiration...
...humor (sorry for the length, but it's worth it, imo)... ...or matter of factness... Hope your day goes well. |
