Budget Central has been created to provide the latest news about the CSU Stanislaus budget in light of the state’s severe cuts to the California State University system. The University has been required to make $13.5 million in cuts to its 2009-10 budget, including a $2.5 million reduction of part-time faculty and staff, and has reduced full-time equivalent enrolment to 6,800. Martha Conner, ’90 MA Nonprofit Agency Administration, was named one of the Outstanding Women of Stanislaus County 2009 in March. The President and CEO of DirectLine Technologies, a cutting-edge fund-raising and telemarketing call center that serves clients nationwide, was selected by the Stanislaus County Commission for Women as a successful business owner, community activist, and mentor to female entrepreneurs and employees. DirectLine Technologies has received a number of national and state business awards for its success, having raised over $70 million for clients. In 2008, the company was named to DiversityBusiness.com’s “Top 500 Small Businesses in America” and “Top 100 Small Businesses in California” lists. The company has a prestigious client list that includes hospitals, universities, museums, and non-profits nationwide. In addition to her professional success, Conner is highly involved in the community through Rotary International, Central West Ballet, United Way of Stanislaus, and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra, among others. Conner and her husband, Gary, founded DirectLine Technologies in 1992 after she worked in school relations and university advancement at CSU Stanislaus following an earlier career as a higher education administrator.
