Richard “Dick” Brown, who was the first California State University, Stanislaus student president and later served for many years on the University’s Alumni Board, passed away on December 10, 2009, at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. He was 74.

A stretch of Highway 120 near Yosemite National Park has been named in honor of California State University, Stanislaus graduate and women’s basketball standout Eva Schicke who was killed while battling a September 2004 wildfire. |

Martha Conner, ’90 MA Nonprofit Agency Administration, was named one of the Outstanding Women of Stanislaus County 2009 in March. The President and CEO of DirectLine Technologies, a cutting-edge fund-raising and telemarketing call center that serves clients nationwide, was selected by the Stanislaus County Commission for Women as a successful business owner, community activist, and mentor to female entrepreneurs and employees. |
Gregory John Magni, '01 BA English, was recently named a 2009 California League of High Schools Educator of the Year. An English teacher and baseball coach at Central Valley High School in Ceres, Magni pitched for the CSU Stanislaus Warriors baseball team for four years and set a school record with 88 pitching appearances.
