California State University, Stanislaus celebrated 50 years of excellence in higher education with Founders Week in September. Special events, an art show, concerts, and other community-wide activities helped to cap three years of celebrating the University’s 1957 founding and 1960 opening. |

Richard “Dick” Brown, who was the first California State University, Stanislaus student president and later served for many years on the University’s Alumni Board, passed away on December 10, 2009, at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. He was 74.

A stretch of Highway 120 near Yosemite National Park has been named in honor of California State University, Stanislaus graduate and women’s basketball standout Eva Schicke who was killed while battling a September 2004 wildfire.

Since CSU Stanislaus Office of Alumni Affairs kicked off its First Annual Spring Reunion on May 9, 2009, anticipation has been building for the 2010 version scheduled for Saturday, May 15. The campus came alive at the 2009 event with excitement as alumni, student groups, and the greater community came together to enjoy a family-centered event celebrating CSU Stanislaus’ 50 years of excellence. |
