Brian Duggan, CSU Stanislaus Director of Learning Services in the Office of Information Technology, applied his passion for Salukis, the popular desert hounds with a colorful history originating in the Middle East, into a newly released book in April 2009.

Saluki: the Desert Hound and the English Travelers Who Brought it to the West tells the true story of the Edwardians in Egypt, Arabia, Syria, and Iraq who were devoted to the Saluki­—the elite hunting hound of the Bedouin. Duggan and his wife, Wendy, have bred 28 champions. He has also presented and published several articles on the history of Salukis, three of which have won awards from the Dog Writers Association of America.
